One City, Nine Kinds of Concrete
Jurupa Valley is one of the newest cities in California, but its concrete is not new. When voters approved incorporation in March 2011, the city was stitched together from nine existing communities: Belltown, Crestmore Heights, Glen Avon, Indian Hills, Jurupa Hills, Mira Loma, Pedley, Rubidoux and Sunnyslope. Epoxy flooring here means working on everything from old slabs in long-settled neighborhoods to newer tracts and work buildings. We look at each floor on its own terms.
What changes from one neighborhood to the next
- Older homes: worn garage slabs with deep oil stains, old paint and cracks that have opened over the years
- Newer homes: smoother slabs that need the builder's surface ground off before a coating will bond
- Shops and work buildings: thicker floors that see tools, carts, equipment and spilled fluids
- Patios: outdoor concrete that bakes in summer and catches winter rain
August is the hard month
Jurupa Valley's average daily high peaks at 95°F in August, and the record is 115°F. A garage floor in August takes hot tires every evening and stays warm well into the night. Coatings that are too thin or poorly bonded soften and lift where tires park. We grind the slab, fill the cracks and build a system with enough thickness for that load. For garages and patios that face direct sun, we top the floor with polyaspartic for better UV resistance.
Winter rain off the river side
The city averages about 16.24 inches of rain a year over roughly 40 days, mostly from January through March. That is more than many people expect in the Inland Empire. Jurupa Valley sits north and west of the Santa Ana River, across from Riverside. On patios and pool decks we add a grit to the topcoat so wet concrete is not slick, and we check that the slab drains away from the house before we coat it.
Shop floors and working garages
A lot of the floors we look at in Jurupa Valley belong to people who use their garage as a work space. Those floors carry jacks, welding carts, tool chests and the odd dropped part. We recommend a 100% solids epoxy base with a solid color or light flake, which makes small parts easy to find, and a chemical-resistant topcoat for brake fluid, coolant and solvents. Steel jack stands should sit on pads so their feet do not cut the topcoat. For commercial and warehouse floors, we can stage the job so work can keep moving around it.
Moisture on slabs at grade
Some older homes and shops here have slabs poured with little or no vapor barrier. Before coating a floor inside a living space or an older shop, we test for moisture. If water vapor is coming up through the concrete, a standard coating can blister. In that case we use a moisture-tolerant primer or tell you plainly that the slab is not a good candidate.
Getting a quote
Tell us which community you are in, what the floor is used for and what is on it now: bare concrete, paint, an old kit coating or heavy oil. Photos of the whole slab and any cracks help us bring the right equipment. We measure, test and give you a written quote that lists each step of prep and each coat.

Jurupa Valley Questions
Can you coat a detached shop or work garage in Jurupa Valley?
Yes. We coat shop floors the same way as attached garages: grind, repair cracks, then build the coating. For heavy tool and equipment use we suggest a thicker epoxy base and a chemical-resistant topcoat.
Will a coated patio be slippery after a winter storm?
Not if it has the right texture. Outdoor floors get grit mixed into the topcoat, which gives traction when the concrete is wet. We also check that water drains away before we start.
What if my old slab has moisture coming up through it?
We test before we quote. If moisture is high, we may use a moisture-tolerant primer, or we will tell you the floor is not a good fit for a coating.
